YOU should play STRAFTAT

If you are a fan of fast paced FPS arena shooters and some dope drum and bass tracks, this is exactly the right game for you. And it is even FREE.

What makes the game so good?

the vibe

The “grimy, ramshackle aesthetic”1 similar to Half-Life 2 or Unreal Tournament 99 combined with the amazing drum and bass soundtrack really make you feel like your playing in the golden ages of arena shooters.

Here are some example screenshots:

the gameplay

I am quite the fan of the FPS genre, but there are somethings the biggest FPS games have in common, which are annoying.

For example:

  • the long waiting time to get into matches
  • the terrible ranked system
    • often comes bundled with a toxic community
  • the seriousness and lack of having fun just for the sake of it

Some of the problems are of course subjective. You totally can have fun in a highly competitive game, but for me ends up feeling like a job, because of the amount of training necessary to rank up.

And thats where STRAFTAT really shines in my opinion.

The rounds can be over in under a minute. The matches also load instantly and start after a 3 second timer, but there is no matchmaking. I think its a good thing though.

Your time to get into a match depends on how fast you can either get into a lobby or how fast someone joins yours.

There are quite some silly maps and weapons, which I am a big fan of, since they make the game less serious and tryhard, whilst also adding to the variety and replayability.

This map for example has ice parts, which randomly sink into the lava.

Or the repulsar, with which you can yeet enemys of the map.

And the best of all is, that there are melee weapons. On almost all maps with melee weapons I only use them, thats how fun they are!

With melee weapons you are able to get around the map a lot quicker and even climb up buildings or get to funny out of bounds places. Most of them also do a lot of damage, instakilling the enemy, when hitting with the right attack.

the community

This obviously highly depends on the random people you play with.

In my now 70h of playtime, as of writing this post, most people I played against were really nice and chill. Some of them even showed me how stuff works or gave tips, when I was new in the game.

Its also a fun game to play with your friends or to find new friends.
